Sportvan looks good and works hard
AS part of its centenary celebrations, Ford of Britain has unveiled a special edition Transit.
Only 180 of the Transit Sportvan models will go on the market, in a metallic silver and graphite livery.
Anthony Ireson, the company’s marketing director, said: “Demand for our Transit SportVan has been exceptional so we are delighted to now offer this latest edition. Transit remains as popular as ever with more than 40,000 sales so far this year and this SportVan gives customers the chance to own a really special Transit.”
The Sportvan is designed around the popular 260 model with its short wheelbase and front wheel drive, and comes equipped with a 2.2-litre TDCi diesel engine coupled to a six-speed gearbox.
On the skin, the Sportvan comes in Moondust Silver and features Le Mans-style bonnet stripes, twin exhausts, 18in alloy wheels with low profile tyres, side skirts, front and rear spoilers and wheel arches.
On the safety front, it is equipped with ABS, ESP and airbags for driver and passenger.
The cab features air conditioning, velour trim, leather steering wheel and gearshift knob. Further equipment includes a Sony radio/CD with DAB (operated from the steering column), Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control and electrically operated windows and heated mirrors. Tinted glass and an alarm come as standard, too.
As if all that wasn’t enough, the Sportvan comes with power deadlocks, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlights, front foglights and a protection kit for the load area. If you feel the need for extra bits optional extras include leather seats, sat-nav, rear view camera, LED cargo lights and LED daytime running lights.
