Volkswagen unveils its new CC

GERMAN carmaker Volkswagen has released pictures of its new CC.
The car will be unveiled officially at this month’s Los Angeles Auto Show (November 16).
And it has a very familiar look to it, which perhaps shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise as the previous model was well-liked.
The CC will continue to offer the practicality of a four-door car with the looks of a sleek coupe.
A new radiator grille sets off the front, along with bi-xenon lamps and the bonnet has a new shape. An extra air intake has been added to the bumper and silver-coloured ‘winglets’ frame the front foglights.
The rear has also had a revamp, with new LED tail lights set in a more angular design. The number plates are also LED. The VW badge is still the boot handle but it can now be specified to contain a rear view camera. One notable absence is the word Passat… it’s been dropped.
The name may be different, but buyers can still expect a long list of standard goodies which has been boosted by the addition of a driver alert system and four-way adjustable front head restraints enhance safety.
Available options include High Beam Assist (to automatically dip headlights), Side Assist (blind spot monitor), Lane Assist and adaptive cruise control with City Emergency Braking function. Buyers can also order front climate seats, complete with massage function, and an electrically deployed towbar.
When it reaches the UK market there will be a choice of three engines — a 1.8-litre TSI 160PS, two-litre TSI 210PS (both petrol) and a two-litre TDI common rail diesel in either 140PS or 170 PS guises. Whichever you choose, your car will come with a standard XDS differential and electronic cross-axle traction control.
The CC will be available first in the North American market early next year, at which time orders can be taken here in the UK for expected deliveries from March onwards. Prices are not yet available. They will be announced nearer to launch.
