Ducati delight as Diavel wins top award
IT’S a case of delight for Ducati as its Diavel has been named as the Motorcycle News Machine Of The Year.
There was plenty of competition for this year’s prestigious accolade, but the Diavel wowed the MCN judges with its ‘rule changing’ attitude and the way it has ‘redefined the cruiser class’.
The paper’s editor, who was also the head of the judging panel, said he was ‘blown away’ by the Diavel. “There was no hesitation here because I have never known a bike exceed expectations by such as huge margin. It has massive presence as a cruiser and should clearly appeal in an entirely new market for Ducati, yet the performance and the feel of the bike is fabulous. It’s easy to forget it also has a world-leading electronics package which otherwise would have been five years away in this sector.”
It was not only MCN’s expectations which the Diavel exceeded, but also Ducati UK, who say that sales have outstripped forecasts and are growing strongly.
Managing director of Ducati UK, Tim Maccabee, received the award and was delighted as he said: “Receiving this award for the Diavel endorses our experience in the market, both in the UK and around the world. When people test ride a Diavel they invariably want one and demand and has been high since the launch.”
Ducati is proud of its innovation and is building on its relationship with AMG. It has just launched the Diavel AMG Special Edition, which has become the flagship of the family.
